Hargray® Chromebook Donation Provides Beaufort-Jasper YMCA After School Program Greater Access to Technology
September 21, 2022 — Beaufort-Jasper, SC —In keeping with the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide in the communities it serves, Hargray, a member of the Cable One family of brands, recently donated 25 Chromebooks to the Beaufort-Jasper YMCA’s after school program.
Michael Bostwick, Beaufort-Jasper YMCA CEO, said that the Chromebooks donated by Hargray will assist students at the YMCA with their after-school homework.
"We are so grateful to Hargray for this donation," Bostwick said. "Many of the kids in our after school program have no access to computers at home. These Chromebooks will give them the opportunity to get their homework done and keep up with their classmates."
Over the past nine years, Hargray and the Cable One family of brands have donated more than 2,600 Chromebooks to Title I schools and community centers in the markets they serve.
Hargray General Manager Jane Shanley said the donation reflects the company’s commitment to community centers and schools.
"We recognize the critical importance that access to technology plays in helping ensure students achieve academic success," Shanley said. "Helping our local YMCA Improve access to technology for students and community members will improve education and benefit our communities where we live and work for the long term."
