Paul Sunu to Join Hargray as Chief Financial Officer
Company also names Vice President of Corporate Development
HILTON HEAD, S.C. (July 8, 2008) – Hargray Communications Group, Inc. today announced that Paul Sunu has agreed to join the company as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Sunu has over 25 years of experience in finance, tax, treasury, securities, and law.
“Hargray is fortunate to have attracted someone of Paul’s caliber and experience to help advance us to our next stage of growth,” said Michael Gottdenker, Hargray’s Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. “Paul’s expertise as a finance executive in the telecommunications industry will complement our senior management team.”
Mr. Sunu most recently served as Chief Financial Officer for Hawaiian Telecom, the 11th largest telephone company in the United States. Prior to Hawaiian Telecom, Mr. Sunu held the same position at Madison River Communications for 11 years where he was also a founder. Mr. Sunu also serves on the Board of Centennial Communications. In addition to serving as Chief Financial Officer of Hargray, Mr. Sunu will serve on the company’s Board.
Mr. Sunu is a CPA and received his bachelor’s degree in public administration and accounting from the University of Illinois in 1978. He earned a law degree from the University of Illinois in 1981.
Hargray also announced that Andrew Rein, currently Vice President, Finance, will assume the new role of Vice President, Corporate Development with responsibility for strategic planning; mergers and acquisitions; and strategic partnerships.
“Since Andrew joined Hargray in September of 2007, he has re-engineered and staffed Hargray’s finance and accounting group while spending a portion of his time on corporate development,” said Mr. Gottdenker. “Paul’s arrival enables Andrew to focus exclusively on critical corporate development initiatives that will help shape the future of our company.”
Prior to joining Hargray, Mr. Rein served as Director of Strategy and Operations at Access Spectrum, LLC and as a consultant with a strategy consulting company based in Washington, DC. Mr. Rein received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2000, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.
