HARGRAY INTRODUCES “HEROES AT HARGRAY”

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — July 8, 2013 —Hargray today announced a new employment program designed to assist military veterans
with their transition into the civilian workforce following the end of their military service. The program, called Heroes at Hargray, provides transitioning military personnel with hands-on vocational training through paid internships of up to one year.

“We are very excited to offer a program focused on creating job opportunities for military veterans who have sacrificed so much for our
country,” said Michael Gottdenker, Hargray’s Chairman & CEO. “Our hope is that this will be one of many such programs introduced throughout our region.”

Heroes at Hargray officially launches on July 8th, when four interns will begin working in Hargray’s Installation & Repair group. These interns will take part in a comprehensive training program
where they will learn to install, troubleshoot and repair equipment on each of Hargray’s platforms.

“The goal of the program is to provide an experience that positions these individuals to gain full-time employment, whether at Hargray or another employer,” said Chris McCorkendale, Hargray’s Vice President of Operations and Engineering and himself a retired Army officer.  “I know firsthand that it can be difficult to transition from military to civilian life, and am thrilled to be a part of a program that can ease
that transition for fellow military service people.”

Hargray plans to expand the program with additional interns and other departments in the future.

REDUNDANT PATH PROVIDES SOLUTION TO ACCIDENTAL FIBER CUT

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — October 26, 2012 — Hargray Communications fiber optic cables serving customers in Bluffton were accidentally cut Wednesday by contractors unaffiliated with Hargray; however, services were rerouted through a redundant path and customers were not affected.

Hargray Communications continues to raise awareness of how important it is for contractors who dig anywhere in our region to go through proper procedures to avoid cutting underground cable. Hargray also continues to make significant network investments to help minimize the impact when a fiber optic cable is accidentally cut.

“The tens of millions of dollars invested in our network over the last several years have allowed us to make many important upgrades, such as creating a ring-centric network,” said Chris McCorkendale, Hargray’s Vice President of Operations and Engineering. “These rings create redundant paths which, in today’s instance, automatically re-routed our customers’ telecommunications traffic which in this instance eliminated any impact on our customers.  Many of the large business customers we serve in Savannah, including Gulfstream and Savannah College of Art & Design, are served on this ring and none of these businesses were impacted.”

As a leading provider of television, Internet, and communications services in the area, Hargray has made it a top priority to establish as many redundant paths as feasible in order to ensure customers do not experience any unnecessary service interruptions to these crucial services.

HARGRAY COMPLETES FIBER BUILD TO DAUFUSKIE ISLAND

HILTON HEAD ISLAND — May _24, 2012 —  Hargray announced the completion of a major construction project to bring improved and more reliable connectivity to Daufuskie Island today. The locally-based telecommunications company began construction late in 2011 with the goal of connecting Daufuskie Island with fiber optic cable. Previously, Daufuskie Island was served with wireless microwave communications equipment, limiting reliability and the amount of bandwidth and capacity available.

The project involved boring under the Calibogue Sound from South Beach in Sea Pines to install the fiber optic cable. Hargray worked closely with the Community Services Associates in Sea Pines to minimize disruption to nearby residents.

Now that this work is complete, residential and business customers will be able to enjoy improved quality, reliability and significantly increased capacity to the island.  Modern microwave will continue to
serve as a means of communications redundancy.  The construction represented an investment of nearly $1 million for Hargray.

“This investment will greatly increase reliability and quality of communications for the residents and businesses of Daufuskie Island,” noted Michael Gottdenker, chairman and CEO of Hargray. “The installation of this fiber network has been eagerly anticipated on Daufuskie, and this new level of connectivity will significantly improve public safety as well.”
